Individual Therapy
You Don’t Have to Keep Carrying This Alone.
Compassionate, evidence-based counseling for the real challenges of life — in Enterprise, AL and via telehealth.
Something brought you here.
Maybe you’ve been anxious for so long that it just feels like your personality now. Maybe you’re grieving something — a loss, a relationship, a version of your life that didn’t work out — and you can’t seem to move forward. Maybe you’re exhausted from holding it all together, and you’re quietly wondering if this is just how it is.
Or maybe you can’t quite name what’s wrong. You just know something needs to change.
Here’s what we want you to know: You don’t have to figure this out alone. And you don’t have to have it all figured out before you call.
That’s what we’re here for.
What We Help With
At Dover Counseling Services, we work with individuals navigating:
- Anxiety & worry – Racing thoughts, panic, constant dread, or a fear that something is always about to go wrong
- Depression & low mood – Persistent sadness, loss of motivation, or a sense of disconnection from the life you want
- Grief & loss – The death of someone you love, the end of a relationship, a dream, or a season of life you’re still mourning
- Trauma & PTSD – Past experiences that still show up in daily life, memories that feel unmanageable, or the weight of things you haven’t been able to talk about
- Life transitions – Divorce, career changes, major moves, empty nesting, or any season of change that has left you feeling unsteady
- Self-worth & identity – Struggling to know who you are, battling shame or people-pleasing, or feeling like you’ve lost yourself along the way
- Anger & stress – Reactions that surprise even you, chronic stress, or conflict that keeps escalating at home or work
- Military & veteran issues – Reintegration challenges, service-related trauma, or the unique pressures carried by those who have served
- Spiritual & faith struggles – Doubt, questions about God, religious trauma, or a longing for deeper alignment between your faith and your everyday life
If you don’t see your situation listed here, reach out anyway. Our therapists have walked alongside people through all kinds of hard seasons, and we’re confident we can help.
Faith-Integrated Care — For Those Who Want It
Dover Counseling Services is a Christian practice. We believe that faith and clinical care work beautifully together — and for many of our clients, integrating their belief system into the counseling process is exactly what makes the difference.
When you want it, we can bring Scripture, prayer, and a Christian framework into the work. We see healing as something that touches every part of who you are — mind, heart, and spirit.
That said, faith integration is always your choice. We serve clients from every background and belief system with the same warmth, respect, and clinical rigor. You will never feel judged for where you are spiritually. Whether your faith is strong, fragile, complicated, or somewhere in between — you are welcome here.
What to Expect in Individual Therapy
Your First Session
Your first appointment is really a conversation. We’ll ask about what brought you in, your history, and what you’re hoping to get out of therapy. There’s no pressure to have the “right” answers. This session is about helping us understand your situation so we can create a plan that actually fits you.
Ongoing Sessions
Your therapist will create a treatment plan for you, and each session is tailored to where you are. We might work on building practical coping skills, processing past experiences, identifying patterns that aren’t serving you, or simply having a space to think out loud with someone who is trained to help. You’ll leave with tools you can use — not just things to think about.
The Goal
Our goal isn’t to keep you in therapy forever. It’s to give you the skills and insight to live more fully — so you can handle hard things, strengthen your relationships, and move forward with confidence.
Is Individual Therapy Right for You?
Consider reaching out if:
- You’ve been struggling with the same issue for a while and can’t seem to get past it
- Anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma, or stress is affecting your relationships, your work, or your daily life
- You’ve been through something painful and haven’t fully processed it
- You’re in a season of change and need support navigating it
- You want to grow — even if things aren’t in crisis
- You’ve tried to “just push through” and it isn’t working
Not sure if it’s time? If you’re asking yourself whether you should talk to someone, the answer is probably yes. The sooner you address what’s weighing on you, the easier it is to work through.
Meet Our Team
Our therapists bring a range of specialties and backgrounds so we can match you with someone who’s truly the right fit for your needs and goals. When you reach out, we’ll ask a few questions to make that match thoughtfully.
